How Running Boosts Real Estate Value and Community Appeal

Today I tackled the “get my smile back” list and actually enjoyed my run. I won’t pretend that I love every change my body has gone through, but for the first time in a while I felt alive and energized.

So what’s with the photo and the little graphic? That image is of our new land. After nearly two years of searching nearby, we finally found a beautiful parcel on the ridge of West Tuscaloosa. Stephen negotiated hard and we got a great deal from a seller who needed to move quickly. The property is almost four acres of terraced land with extensive woods behind it, wooded neighbors on both sides, and a quiet country road. From where our future front porch will sit, the view is mostly trees. I’ll keep my peaceful back-road commute to school, and Stephen will have a slightly shorter drive to the river where he works.

I’m thrilled about this next chapter. It means selling our current house and building a new one, but it also keeps us close to family and ends our years of wavering about a move to Colorado. The timing and price were right, so this feels like the right move for us.

Here’s a larger panoramic shot.

And here’s a snapshot of some of the paperwork we signed to make this piece of Alabama ours.

I also cooked today as part of my effort to return to healthier routines. It feels good to be intentional about nourishing myself again.

Breakfast was eggs and asparagus paired with a local sausage that’s packed with flavor. Honestly, the sausage on its own was tempting enough to eat by the plateful.

Happy Tuesday!
