At the heart of this recipe is the homemade sauce. Don’t be intimidated by the idea of making sauce from scratch—this Mushroom Bolognese uses easy-to-find ingredients and comes together quickly. You may already have most items in your pantry.

One of the best shortcuts is using store-bought ravioli. The fresh, savory mushroom sauce elevates even premade pasta, so no one will miss homemade pasta dough.
This recipe suits casual winter dinner parties and busy weeknights alike. It’s an excellent option when you want something comforting but fast—similar in convenience to a quick penne with vodka sauce.

Feel free to vary the ravioli or pasta: cheese or mushroom ravioli both work well, and the sauce is also excellent over gnocchi or your favorite pasta shape. Serve with garlic bread for a complete meal.
