A harmonious blend of pumpkin and chocolate — these brownies are moist, richly flavored, and finished with warm pumpkin spice for a comforting dessert.
Ingredients
-
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
-
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
-
1/2 teaspoon salt
-
3/4 cup butter, melted
-
1 1/2 cups white sugar
-
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
-
3 eggs
-
1/4 cup cocoa powder
-
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
-
1/2 cup pumpkin puree
-
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
-
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
-
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
-
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan. In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter, white sugar, and vanilla. Beat in the eggs one at a time with a spoon until blended. Gradually fold in the flour mixture until the batter is evenly moistened. Divide the batter evenly into two bowls.
- To one bowl, add the cocoa powder and semi-sweet chocolate chips and stir until combined. In the other bowl, mix in the pumpkin puree, chopped walnuts, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg.
- Spread half of the chocolate batter into the prepared pan, then spoon half of the pumpkin batter on top. Repeat with the remaining chocolate and pumpkin batters, finishing with pumpkin. Use a knife or small spatula to gently swirl the layers for a marbled effect.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the brownies begin to pull away from the sides of the pan and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool in the pan, then cut into squares and serve.
The contrast of deep chocolate and bright pumpkin flavor, enhanced by cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg, yields a dessert that’s both comforting and indulgent. The marbled layers add visual appeal while each square stays moist and fudgy.
For best results: measure ingredients accurately, avoid overmixing once the dry ingredients are combined, and allow the brownies to cool fully before slicing so they set properly.
These pumpkin brownies are excellent served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or enjoyed at room temperature as a snack or dessert.
